There is two kinds of T5. One is known as the Non-World Class T5, such as in the chevette, and one known as the World Class T5, which came in performance oriented applications. The main differences between both are that, one is mounted on bushings where there are bearings on the other and also, that the second one received higher quality synchros that will take more abuses. Another element is that there's a compromise to do when time comes to put ATF oil in the bushed version transmission, where this oil seems to be a must for fast shifting it is not indicated for the Non-World Class T5.
What options for a Chevette T5 Hybrid?
The internals can't be swapped without extensive work so my question is. Is it possible to swap the bell housing and tail to another T5 gearbox?

What do you mean by welding the chevette input? Isn't it 14 splines? If so I would rather machine it further back if it's feasible. Other than this, would the chevette tail fit behind the gear box?
Thanks for contributing to this thread

its my understanding that you have to use a bell housing from a 5 speed chevette on the ford tranny and the lenght of the input has to be changed with one from the vette, and you build a drive shaft to fit,i've never had one but the ones i've seen where something like this
