Since, this place is slow, and I've got race fever I'd figure I'd put up a thread on my build. This is my first entire build, and first experiance with a Chevette.
The car, the day I brought it home, bought the car for $300 bucks. Ran good as long as you jammed the pedal to the floor. The carb was pretty gummed up.
The back window flew off the car while it was on the trailer some on the way home.
Took no time to gut the car and pull the motor with thee help of my oldest boy.
I don't seem to have any of the cage building pics on my ipad, must be on my comp, so I'll put them up later. This is the first draft of the dash, which turned out nothing like I pictured and soon scrapped
Making and test fitting the trunk
The dash, mocked up a little closer to how it would accually look finished. You can kind of see the sub frame connectors, I'll have to add some more photo's of the way I did them
Got the door bars prrretty flush
Mounted the window net with the mock seat
finished tacking up the doors andd sealing the firewall, which was rediculous
Painted the inside International Harvestor Red
Painted the cage flat black and mounted the finished dash
Then installed the trunk
Painted the engine bay to match. You can see all the patching on the firewall
Got some of the wiring done
Put in the steering quickener and attched an early steering wheel to the removable hub
Mounted the seat
Thats about where it sits now. I will post some more of the cage when I get on my computer. I'll prob spend the rest of my new years eve in the shop getting back on it.
