Bowersock Wins Modified Feature at Brushcreek in Final Tune-up Before the American Heritage 101 Weekend

(Peebles, Ohio) [/i]After taking a week off for the Adams County fair, Brushcreek Motorsports Complex returned to action Saturday July 28 with family night / fan appreciation night. In the final tune up before the annual American Heritage 101 week end fans were treated to the usual door to door fender to fender racing action on the 1/3 mile high banks, along with a few special activities. As part of family night / fan appreciation festivities every paid general admission received a Coca-Cola compliments of Southern Hills Therapy. Racers in Christ provided a giant inflatable for the kids to enjoy. After the heat races concluded several drivers brought their cars out to the front stretch for a meet and greet/autograph session.
Bethel, Ohio's Rick Combs drove the Chrismans Water Conditioning, Speed Weasels Performance Parts Warehouse, Cropper Race Engines, Metal Shredders, Rocket Chassis to the late model feature win. Wapakoneta, Ohio's Jerry Bowersock drove the Central Star Drilling, North Star Drilling, Marshall Campbell Race Engines, Lightning Chassis to the modified feature win. Maysville, Kentucky's Eric Dearing drove the Shelton Racing, Tire World of Maysville, Davis Machine Shop, Red Brick Liquor, Brannon Farms, Shelton Racing Engines, Napa of Maysville Chevette to the Chevette/4 cylinder feature win. Peebles, Ohio's Roy York drove the D&R Engineering Camero to the bomber feature win. While Peebles, Ohio's Tom Partin took the legend win and Peebles, Ohio's Matt Nichols took the trophy 4 cylinder dash.
West Union, Ohio's Marty Huntley and Bethel, Ohio's Rick Combs brought the late model feature field to the green. The two shot into turn one side by side with Huntley emerging from turn two with a slight lead. Combs drove deep into turn three emerging from turn four with a slight lead over Huntley. The action would slow on lap two when the 23t of Bill Toedter spun bringing out the caution. On the restart, Combs began to pull away from Huntley who was now receiving pressure from fourth starting Jerry Bowersock. The action would slow with a lap five caution when the 00 of Brian Day spun in turn four. On the restart, Combs once again pulled to a slight advantage over Huntley, who slid to a stop on the back stretch bringing the caution back out. On the restart, Combs pulled to a slight lead over Jerry Bowersock. Bowersock continued to pressure front runner Combs over the next four circuits until the action was slowed with a caution when Chris Huntsmen spun exiting turn four. On the restart, Combs shot into turn one followed by Bowersock, Spensor Watson, Brian Arnet, and Mark Morrison. The action was slowed with a lap nine when Marty Huntley got into the barrel marking the inside of the track on the front stretch. On the restart, Combs once again pulled to a slight lead over Bowersock. A lap ten caution would wave when Darran Kattine looped his mount coming out of turn four. On the restart, Bowersock would try to mount a charge, pulling alongside Combs on the backstretch. Combs drove deep into turn three and emerged with a slight lead over Bowersock. Feeling the pressure from Bowersock, Combs would drive his 26c Rocket deeper into the corners with each circuit. Combs maintained a slight lead over Bowersock when the final caution waved on lap fourteen when Brian Day spun his 00 Rocket. Combs held off Bowersock over the final laps to pick up the late model feature win. Following Combs and Bowersock across the line were Spensor Watson, Brian Arnet, and Mark Morrison rounding out the top five.
Wapakoneta, Ohio's Jerry Bowersock and Maysville, Kentucky's Jeremie Bretz brought the modified feature field to the green. Jerry Bowersock jumped out to the early lead followed by Rick Hensley, Kenny Riddle and Mike Gross. The action was slowed on lap two when Jeremie Bretz and Jeremy Scott rolled to a stop on the front stretch. On the restart, Bowersock jumped out to a five car length lead over Hensley who was receiving pressure from Kenny Riddle. The action was slowed with a lap ten caution when Mark Keatzel's mount spun coming out of turn four. On the restart, Bowersock jumped out to a slight lead over Hensley, Riddle, and Gross. The front four began to pull away from the rest of the field over the next few circuits. As Bowersock and Hensley battled for the lead they began to put some distance between themselves and the duo of Riddle and Gross. Bowersock continued to hold a slight advantage over Hensley as they began working lapped traffic. Exiting turn four on lap seventeen Hensley and Bowersock approached a back marker. Hensley shot to the bottom and Bowersock to the top splitting the lap car. The two came to the flag man's two to go signal side by side. They shot into turn one side by side with Bowersock emerging from turn two with a slight lead over Hensley. Bowersock would hold off Hensley over the final two circuits to pick up the feature win. Following Bowersock and Hensley across the line were Mike Gross, Kenny Riddle, and Darren Dryden rounding out the top five.
Oak Hill, Ohio's Darrell Lunsford and Maysville, Kentucky's Eric Dearing brought the Chevette/4 cylinder feature field to the green. Lunsford jumped out to the early lead followed by Mitchel Fields, Eric Dearing and Gary Rowland. Lundsford received pressure from Fields over the first three circuits but maintained the lead. The action was slowed with a lap four caution when Fields looped his chevette exiting turn two. On the restart, Lundsford held a slight advantage over Dearing. Dearing continued to pressure Lunsford over the next few laps, before taking the lead coming to the white flag. Lundsford would fight back reclaiming the lead in turn one. Dearing reclaimed the lead in turn four and held off Lundsford at the flag stand to pick up the feature win. Following Dearing and Lundsford across the line were Gary Rowland, Tom Partin, Mitchel Fields.
Peebles, Ohio's Roy York and Sardinia, Ohio's Bill Taylor brought the bomber feature field to the green. York jumped out to the early lead followed by Matt Edmisten, Bill Taylor and Carl Warren. In the early stages, Roy York would stretch his lead over Edmisten, Taylor and Warren. Leaving Edmisten, Taylor and Warren to battle it out for second. York cruised to the bomber feature win. Following York across the line were Matt Edmisten, Carl Warren, Bill Taylor, Shane Murray and J.B. Warren.
Brushcreek Motorsports will be back in action on Friday August 3rd and Saturday August 4th., for the annual American Heritage 101 weekend. Friday August 3rd "Night Before the Heritage" is a complete one day show, consisting of AMRA modifieds 43 laps, $1,000 to win, plus late models, chevette/4cylinders, bombers, legends and the 4 cylinder trophy class. Friday's ticket prices are general admission $15 and pits $30.
As a part of the "American Heritage 101" weekend anyone with an RV/Motorhome, Camper or Travel Trailer will be permitted to park free for the weekend as well as receive one general admission to Friday's program courtesy of Larry Shaw from OK Auto Parts. To claim your free ticket you must be on the grounds before 7:00 P.M. Friday.
Also as part of the "American Heritage 101" weekend Jesus Motorsports Outreach and OK Auto Parts will be having a free drivers and fans cookout on Saturday August 4th from 11:30 to 2 pm.
Saturday August 4th "American Heritage 101" is a complete one day show, consisting of the AMRA Road Warrior Tour Modifieds 58 laps, American Heritage Harley Davidson or $10,000 to win drivers choice, plus Chevette/4cylinders, bombers, legends and the 4 cylinder trophy class. Saturday's ticket prices are general admission $20.00 and pits $35.00.
