Rhoads and Nichols Double Winners at Brushcreek

(Peebles, Ohio) Brushcreek Motorsports Complex returned to action on Saturday August 18 with a full racing program and an enduro race. As the warm Saturday afternoon faded into the cool August night the racing action heated up on the 1/3 mile speed plant. Sardina, Ohio's Weasel Rhodes picked up a pair of feature wins, claiming the late model feature in his Warrior chassis and the modified feature win in the Joe Sticker owned Speed Weasels Performance Warehouse, KOI Auto Parts, Cropper Racing Engines, Bob Pierce Race Cars sponsored modified. Oak Hill Ohio's Mike Strickland picked up the Chevette/4 cylinder feature win in his F&J Tire, Lakeview Auto Sales, Mark Sark Logging, Mike's Heavy Equipment Repair sponsored Oldsmobile Calais. Manchester Ohio's Matt Edmisten picked up the bomber feature win in his Tom Edmisten, Tommy Edmisten, D&R Engineering, Community Fuels sponsored Monte Carlo. Peebles Ohio's Matt Nichols picked up the legend feature win and the 4 cylinder trophy dash win. While Oak Hill Ohio's Kevin McKenzie picked up the enduro win.
Jenera, Ohio's Clint Jamison and Sardina, Ohio's Weasel Rhodes brought the late model feature field to the green. At the drop of the green Jamsion jumped out to the early lead with Rhoads in tow. The action was slowed with a lap six caution when Anthony Day and Kevin Lentz got together on the backstretch. On the restart, Jamison jumped out to a slight lead over Rhoads, Brian Arnet, Danial Kattine and Darran Kattine. As Rhoads and Arnet battled side by side, front runner Jamison pulled to a five car length lead. Once Rhoads cleared Arnet he began to reel in front runner Jamsion. Catching Jamsion on lap nine, Rhoads and Jamison would battle side by side for the next three circuits. Battling side by side with Rhoads, coming through turn two on lap eleven Jamison slid up the track making contact with the wall ending his night. On the restart, Rhoads pulled to a slight lead over Brian Arnet, Danial Kattine, Darran Kattine and Cody Enlow. Arnet would run down Rhoads on lap eighteen. The two entered turn three side by side. Coming through turn four Arnet held a slight advantage, but Rhoads fought back on the out side and the two were side by side at the flag stand as the white flag waved. Entering turn one Arnet and Rhoads got together sending Rhoads spinning. The caution was charged to Arnet and Rhoads resumed the lead. On the restart, Rhoads pulled to a slight lead over Darran Kattine. Rhoads held off Kattine over the final two laps to pick up the feature win. Following Rhoads and Kattine across the line were Danial Kattine, Brian Arnet, and Cody Enlow rounding out the top five.
Peebles, Ohio's Dave Jamison and Peebles, Ohio's Mike Gross brought the modified feature field to the green. At the drop of the green Jamsion jumped out to the early lead over Gross, Weasel Rhoads, and Davey Warnock. Jamison continued to hold a slight advantage early as Rhoads moved around Gross on lap ten to take over second place. The action was slowed on lap eleven with a caution when a lapped car got into leader Jamison sending him spinning. With the lapped car charged with the caution Jamison resumed the point. On the restart, Jamsion and Rhoads shot into turn one side by side with Mike Gross in tow. The trio would come through turn two three wide. With Jamsion gaining a slight advantage down the back stretch. Rhoads would make the move around Jamison on lap thirteen. With Rhoads now in the lead, the action was slowed with a lap seventeen caution when Brad White and Davey Warnock got together in turn two. On the restart, Rhoads held off a challenge from Gross. Rhoads held off Gross over the next three laps to pick up the modified feature win. Following Rhoads and Gross across the line were Dave Jamison, Davey Warnock, and David McWilliams rounding out the top five.
Oak Hill, Ohio's Allan Strickland and Oak Hill, Ohio's Mike Strickland brought the Chevette/4cylinder feature field to the green. Mike Strickland jumped out to the early lead over Allan Strickland, Darrell Lunsford, Kent Knoblauch, and Randy Johnson. Mike Strickland stretched his lead over Allan early, while Allan distanced himself from the rest of the pack. Mike Strickland cruised to the feature win. Following Mike Strickland across the line were Allan Strickland, Kent Knoblauch, Darrell Lunsford, and Randy Johnson rounding out the top five.
Manchester, Ohio's Matt Edmisten and Flemingsburg Kentucky's Shane Murray brought the bomber feature field to the green. At the drop of the green flag Matt Edmisten jumped out to the early lead over Roy York, Shane Murray and Bill Taylor. In the early stages Roy York worked to erase the lead Matt Edmisten had built. Coming through turn four on lap eight Roy York made contact with the rear of Edmisten sending him spinning. York was charged with the caution and Edmisten resumed the point. On the restart, Edmisten pulled to a five car length lead over Bill Taylor and Shane Murray. Edmisten cruised to the feature win. Following Edmisten across the line were Bill Taylor, Shane Murray, and Larry Highland.
Brushcreek Motorsports Complex will be back in action on Saturday August 25 with the Dave Purdin Auto Sales customer appreciation night fly-in and huge fireworks show. Classes running will include Late models $1,500 to win, modifieds, Chevette/4 cylinder, trophy 4 cylinders, legends, and bombers. The Little Creek Karting Complex will also be in action on Saturday August 25 with a full racing program.
