This is a common problem on Chevettes. I have seen some OEM replacement fender wells on Ebay before, but that's been several years ago. You may try a local body shop to see if they can order one from an aftermarket source. If not, about your only option is to go to a junk yard and find a replacement panel. Cut it out, cut your rusted panel out, then weld the replacement in. Grind the welds smooth, add a little bondo and paint, only you will know its been replaced! Good luck. Let me know if you find an aftermarket source. I have an 87 model im fixing up for the street, and both shock towers are rusted. Stephen Fields - Welcome to the forum! -

Thanks, Stephen, for the fender fix idea. The guy I'm buying the car from said he might have source to get repo fenders from, and I'll continue looking myself. Alot of folks here in southern MD use Chevettes for demo derbies. Sadly, most are in great shape with little rust. Great forum and website. Thanks, Steve G.

How about this for a front end setup?

Just more proof of my comment on your other post. I've been building these cars for over 10 years, and what you have takes alot of hard work and fabrication skills.
Is that a Chevette engine in it? If so, what all have you done to it?

Thanks means a lot knowing how much work was put into it. Yes it is a Chevette engine. Not overly trick but the block is shaved with a lazer cam, little bit larger carb, been balanced and had a pulley machined to have adjustable cam timing.

Did you ever consider setting the engine back, or would rules not allow?

We would like to have pushed the engine back when we built the front clip, but the rules say it has to be in its stock location so we used the stock front cross member and built everything else around that.

Very impressive! What control arms were used in that build if you don't mind me asking?
