Hi everyone,
I have a mid 80's Corvette caliper set that I would like to fit on the chevette in the future but can't find rotors that will do the job so...
I'm wondering what kind of rotors would have a 4x100 bolt pattern, a good diameter (+/- 12") and a offset near from the original chevette rotor.
I have 17" rims, so radius clearance is not a concern. I think that even 14" rotors could fit with a little adjustment to the caliper's fins.
Thanks for reading this and have a nice day!

Have you checked Isuzu Impulse or Pontiac Fiero?

As far as I know, Impulse has small discs and fiero 5 lugs pattern. But, I may look closer to the impulse rotor if I don't get any other Idea. Thanks!

honda has 4x100 the earlier civics and suck till 2000 i think have 4x100. i dont know how big they are but i think they are vented too the calipers would work also yo would just need brackes to remount them to chevette. heck you can even to rear disc. the only concern is hub bore idk what the chevette it as with the civic. i was thinking about doing this myself

Hi Sobeit,
Thanks to participate on this thread. I've already looked at the honda/acura disc's on google and clearance just don't seems big enough, but it's a good guess... may work in a particular configuration, like if the setup explained in the next lines gives too much offset...
Cobalt rotors:
I searched at least two hours today and found that cobalt have appreciable size rotors and that there are oversized rotors, about 12", that exist for this model in the 4x100 bolt pattern. Offset is not as big as the chevette one but still better than the Honda's.
Chevette hub could be faced on a late on the back face with the original disc cut off (with a flange to center the rotor) and rotor mounted on the back with the remaining hub "sandwiched" between rotor and wheel. It would need longer studs but no more modification... regardless of the adaptation of non standard calipers. Wheel wouldn't change or protrude out of the fender since it will seat at the same place instead of if the new rotor was installed outside like it normally goes on a cobalt and where the wheel goes on a chevette. By doing it like this I would clear the mag without a problem since I would benefit of the added offset of the rotor being placed behind the hub...
Oversized rotors from ssbc might do the trick. They are 12" but the company says it needs 17" rims minimum. They are 1" thick and may fit well with a .100" spacer with the corvette caliper, which front rotors are 1.1" thick in 1988.
I think I was wrong while considering a 13" rotor... anyway, I have a good Idea of what can be done by now.
... but it has to be tested to see if the caliper will hit something... at least it looks like it can be done by now.
*** I'll try to look at a stock cobalt 4x100 rotor to measure the diam., width and offset tomorrow.***

The store nearby didn't had cobalt rotors in stock so I'll have to wait untill week begins... well it's already began but I mean when other stores will open, in at least 5 hours from now. Wew, I must go to bed now.

I looked at a stock Cobalt rotor with the 4x100 bolt pattern. The offset is around .800", not that much. The rotor has a 10" diam and thickness is .900". I'm still looking for an alternative to this rotor. Honda, suzuki, and other japanese, as well as geo (nipon chevy); all have a small diam. Company which make the big rotor kit for the cobalt didn't answered me back about the availability of ther rotors alone, without the calipers and other hardware.
More to come within the next month... or as soon as I can.

Interesting. It makes me considere a spindel swap, I'll try to take a look at how a fiero spindle is made. I have to stay with the 4 bolts pattern, but thanks for the good idea.
Please, let me know how it goes with your upgrade.
Concerning the upgrade I was working on, the company that makes an oversize brake kit for the civic and cobalt, ssbc, sells them individually. The civic 11" rotor is $54 each plus shipping. The cobalt or the civic 12" rotor costs around $130 each.
I have to excuse myself to those who were waiting for a conclusion. I'm up in the air with a few of my projects right now because I don't have much time.

I found something interesting about a big rotor swap on a Fiero. (link below) The way it's made, you would end up with a set of corvette rotors and calippers with the 5x4¾" bolt pattern. Because of going with right size 4x100 rotors turns to be costly, I plan on redrill a set of Corvette rotors and put it on debured chevette hubs/rotor (with the rotor part removed). There will still be the hub issue because of the flange height. Other than this and since there's a plan of the bracket adapter needed to fit big calippers, it should be feasable at a relatively low cost with all used parts. Also interesting when showing is a criteria, BrakeMotive, an ebay store, sells high quality cross drilled and slotted rotors at $175. I'll also have to figure out if the chevette and Fiero spindles are the same so that I can relly on the adapter plan shown on the link. Here it is: www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/carcorner/52/id28.htm
