I am new to the chevette thing the car i have is a 1977 1.4 scooter 4 speed out of calf. in a TD replica body I would like a little more power the engine has about 60K on it I rebuilt the carb. 2 years ago and never could get the accelorater pump to work ...any ideas ?? Dan R Sevierville Tn.
What are you expecting from your 1.4 once everything is done? Are you looking to perform as much as a stock modern 4 cyl. car? Are you just looking for some cheap upgrades? What are you expecting as a result?
I would say like rad15E. It happens that I have both these parts for sale! I got the stock intake and a NEW Holley original chevette carb. Make me a honest offer and we will arrange something for the shipping, 50/50 if the price is descent. Olivier_Roy9@hotmail.com
The only thing I would like is the car to hold 60 mph. on the highway as of now it will not,... there many 1.6 cars around here, I did not know that it would interchange!with a 1.6 is the cam any better for performance than the stock one in the 1.4 ?? I figured calf. cars had different emissions than the outher states I thing this car has all the aerodynamics of a brick and has to work to keep speed over 45 mph.in 4th
get rid of all emissions, and if you you don't have a heater block all the water ports in the water pump and intake,i wouldn't be surprised if you don't have a few other problems because these little motors will maintain 60 mph at ease--it being a 1.4 it probally has the 151 head a small aftermarket cam with good fuel and air will really help,,what ratio is you rearend gear
I guess I'll open the exhaust first . I remember a long time ago in HOT ROD magazine there was an article that showed using balled and pressed aluminum foil to block the water passage in an intake in a V8 do i remember correctly ?where can I get a better cam?? as a 2bbl. intake, would that realy help? port and pollish would be a good winter project A new carb set up better than i did I KNOW would help ..Thank You for your help Dan
