Hi, we just bought dirt racing chevette and we are from Ky, around Elizabethtown, KY. Where are the tracks located at that still race Chevettes? I heard that Burnside is going to run them 2012 but I'm not sure of any other tracks and locations. Please let me know of some if anyone knows. Thank You

Thanks, I was told that burnside was going to run them this year but I don't know. I thought the same thing. I knew they stopped running the vetts last year at burnside but anyway, thanks for some of the names of the tracks. As far as running with the Mustangs, we race fords on Figure 8 and we have buddies that race mustangs and I really don't think that they want this ride running them. If my son can drive this car like he drove his FWD and his GoKart that he still is racing at this time, I don't think that they would have a chance. LOL. However I do have another question thou, can u run the late model front end on the vett?

I see. Our car is boxed in around the driver and still has a front end like all that I have seen on this site, but I did not know. I'm new with this class and all advise will help. I know that this car is built real well, so NOT to much to the stock vett. I believe the floor board on the rt side is not there anymore, (not sure yet on that) still taking off the sheet metal to check the frame and all the bars making sure its safe. I do know that they had a BIG motor in it but blew it up turning 8600 rpm. To me I think that is alittle much but anyway. Thanks for ur help, I sure can use all that I can get. Its just going to be me and my son coming to the tracks. My other half races Figure 8 and is running point season this year for a new car owner, so I'm pretty good with cars myself but will need some advise. Like I said, this class is new to me. I'm however looking for a nice engine or some short block advise for the 1.6 motors.... If u have any advise on this please don't be scared to let me in on some secrets. lol Oh and another thing about this vett. The person we got it from called it a modified vett, do know anything about this?

K, so will the track u race at allow the late model front end, and is the boxed in cab legal there as well. I was looking at top end for power is this where the power is at on these motors, maybe .060 over, dome piston, or flat top. 200 plus horsepower. Just a thought for when I have to get ready to buy and turn some wrenches.

I know. I think that they made a mistake on taking that class away. I've seen some pics there and looks like they had enough cars there for a class. Just makes no since to me why a good thing has to end. U know they should just make it a 4cyl class, u know run what u brung, I think that would be awsome. Or just put the class on a few times to see what happens.

the run what u brung sounds great but thats really what killed the vettes, when they quit tecking the cars and started allowing the wheels and racing tires and a few of us started really digging deep into these little motors a lot of the racers just hung it up for good, there was a time when 30 -45 cars would show up at lake cumb.or baxter,or clinton co.,the vettes actually supported these tracks enought to make money and stay open, was good days when there was 4 heat races and a consi, the top 3 spots got huge trophys and a check, thing about it now i have more money in the head on my motor than i had in my first car entirely

Ohio is pretty much run what you brung and they have good races up there. We just need someone down here that likes the class like Greg up there does to help the class out and it will grow back up
