Boyd Young Defends "Faster Pastor" Title
(Peebles, Ohio) On a typical Sunday morning, area pastors can be found preaching the bible to their congregations, but on Tuesday July 3rd many of them traded their pulpit for a drivers seat in the fourth annual Jesus Motorsports Outreach Faster Pastor Race. Defending "faster pastor" Boyd Young wowed the large crowd slicing and dicing through the fourteen car faster pastor field to pick up the win, securing his title as "faster pastor". While Boyd Young picked up the feature win, the real winners were each participating church's youth group. A portion of every ticket sold by a participating church went to the church's youth group.
West Portsmouth, Ohio's Ben Adkins drove his 239 Auto Group Inc., Monroe's Collision, Acu-Force Shock Dynos, A-1 Auto Glass, Mastersbuilt Chassis to the late model feature win. Delhi, Ohio's Jeff Harris drove the Darren Jones owned Carstar, Fast Company Lightning Chassis to the modified feature win. Hillsboro, Ohio's Rusty Yarger drove his Northwest Transmission, Wilson Body Shop, Rusty's Weekly Paycheck, Carey Speeway Chevette to the Chevette/4 cylinder feature win. Peebles, Ohio's Jim Helterbran drove his Graphic Creations, Shell Race Engines, Adams Chassis to the bomber feature win. Independence, Kentucky's Tony Steffen drove the Waterlang Graphic Legend to the feature win. Justin Myers picked up the 4 wheeler feature win. While Jeff Cutler took the enduro win.
Fayetteville, Ohio's Mike Meyers and West Union, Ohio's Darran Kattine brought the late model feature field to the green. Kattine jumped out to the early lead and continued to hold a slight lead until the first caution waved when Joe Ramey spun in turn two. On the restart, Kattine once again jumped out to a slight lead but the action would quikly be slowed when Terry Smart spun in turn two collecting Joe Ramey and Clint Jamison. Early race leader Darren Kattine would go pit side while under caution, ending his night. On the restart, the action was quickly slowed when Kevin Lentz spun comming out of turn four. On the restart, Mike Meyers jumped out to a slight lead over ninth starting Ben Adkins. Adkins would work his way around Meyers and endure three more cautions, cruising to the feature win. Following Adkins across the line where Brian Day, Joe Ramey, Bill Toedter, and Kevin Lentz rounding out the top five.
Lucasville, Ohio's Greg Anderson and Delhi, Ohio's Jeff Harris brought the modified feature field to the green. Harris jumped out to the early lead, but the race was quickly slowed when Jamey Adams slowed to a stop in turn four with a flat tire. On the restart it was Greg Anderson jumping out to the lead. A second lap caution waved when Anderson slowed to a stop on the back stretch. On the restart, Jeff Harris jumped out to the lead over Rick Hensley and Doug Adkins. The trio began to pull away from the field until Brad White spun on lap four, bringing out the caution. On the restart the trio of Harris, Hensley, and Adkins once again began to pull away from the field. Hensley worked the rear bumper of Harris to no avail. The action was slowed on lap eleven when the caution waved for Shaun Scott who got into the tire barrier in turn three. On the restart Hensley looked under Harris but was able to make the pass. Once again the trio of Harris, Hensley, and Adkins began to put distance between themselves and the rest of the field. The action was slowed on lap fourteen with a caution, when the 222 of Brad White spun after receiving contact from the 00 of Rob LeMaster. On the restart, Hensley made the move around Harris, brining Adkins with him. However it would be erased when Dave Jamsion spun before the lap was complete. Reverting back to the pervious lap Harris was credited with the lead. On the restart, Harris, Hensley, and Adkins one again began to pull away from the field. Harris help off Hensley over the final few laps to pick up the feature win. Following Harris across the line were Rick Hensley, Doug Adkins, David McWilliams, and Jeff Arnold rounding out the top five.
Peebles, Ohio's Tom Partin and Hillsboro Ohio's Rusty Yarger brought the chevette/4cylinder feature field to the green. Rusty Yarger jumped out to the early lead followed by Miles Tarvin, Josh Francis, and Kent Knoblauch. The action was quickly slowed when Taylor Grooms spun, bringing out the caution. On the restart Yarger once again jumped out to a slight lead over Tarvin, Francis and Knoblauch. While Yarger was the front runner, Taylor Grooms was on the move. Staring on the tail after the first lap caution Grooms sliced and diced his way through the field. By lap six he was challenging Yarger for the lead. Grooms made the move around Yarger on the back stretch claiming the top spot, but coming out of turn four disaster struck when the engine let go. With Grooms heading to the pits with mechanical problems Yarger reclaimed the top spot and cruised to the feature win. Following Yarger across the line were Miles Tarvin, Josh Francis, Kent Knoblauch, and Tom Partin.
Vanceburg, Kentucky's Josh Stamm and Sardinia Ohio's Mark Keatzel brought the bomber feature win to the green. Keatzel and Stamm shot into turn one side by side, the two came out of turn two side be side and continued down the back stretch. As the duo entered turn three Jim Helterbran stuck a nose between the two. Trying to take it three wide Hilterbran slide up into Keatzel. Ketzel slowed to a stop with a flat tire, bringing out the caution. On the restart, Helterbran jumped out to the lead over Jeremie Bretz. The action was slowed with a lap two caution when Shane Murray lost a rear wheel while coming out of turn four. On the restart, Helterbran once again jumped out to a slight lead over Bretz. The action was slowed on lap three when Josh Stamm spun coming out of turn four. On the restart, Helterbran and Bretz began to put some distance between themselves and the rest of the field. The final caution waved on lap seven when Matt Edmisten's motor let go coming out of turn four. Helterbran hold off Bretz over the final laps to claim the bomber feature win. Following Helterbran across the line were Jeremie Bretz, and eleventh starting Justin Jaynes.
Brushcreek Motorsports Complex will return to action Saturday July 14 with a full racing program of late models, modifieds, chevette/4 cylinders, bombers, legends, and trophy 4 cylinders, The Little Creek Karting Complex will also return to action Saturday June 14 with a full race program.
