Huntington Beach, CA native Smokinstewart cruses to Gas City I69 Speedway Checkered flag
Gas City, IN- August 6th, 2008- The Thunder on Dirt Racing Series presented by Back Pocket Sim Racing, kicked off its second season of dirt car racing this Wednesday night at the Legendary Gas City I69 Speedway. With many questions unanswered going into the second season, Smokinstewart would come out on top at Gas City I69 Speedway in a dominate performance leading all 50 laps of the A main on his way to victory lane, behind the wheel of his Bass Pro Shops/ Tracker Boats, sponsored number 20 chevy.
North Carolina native WheelRacer would take runner-up honors behind the wheel of his Fed-ex sponsored number 11 Dodge while Jeremy Haynes out of Tennessee would claim a third place finish in his Napa Auto Parts sponsored number 2 entry. Ken Eyer of Peoria, Illinois would take home fourth palce honors in his J&J Steel/ Valvoline oil sponsored number 15 entry. Arkansas native Slopland would round out the top five behind the wheel of his Arkansas Razorbacks/ Army Infantry sponsored number 22 entry.
The remainder of the field at the finish would be T-Bone, Tapper, Paul Leigh SR, and Chuckracer.
Smokinstewart would take the lead at the start of the 50 lap main event, with Jeremy, Wheelracer, Ken, and Slopland giving chase. After a few laps into the event Smokinstewart, Jeremy and Wheelracer would have a three car break away, but close racing would lead to Jeremy spinning and bringing out the caution. Ken was also involved and joined Jeremy at the tail of the field for the restart. At the drop of the green Smokinstewart would get much heat from second place runner Wheelracer, but after a few laps into the green flag run stewart would pull away by a car length. A couple more cautions would wave bunching the field close, but stewart would not be rattled in capping off his stellar race performance and going to victory lane.
In preliminary action, Jeremy Haynes was the top qualifier among 9 entries with a lap time of 11.267 seconds. Heat race winners would be Jeremy Haynes, and Smokinstewart.
The next event for the Super Late Model division of the Thunder on Dirt Racing Series will be on August 13th, 2008 at Boone Speedway located in Boone, Iowa.
