i have been working on a head swap using everything from the sunbird head. when using everything like this you will have to have your intake on the passenger side unlike the chevettes being on the driver side. i had a chevette timing gear machined to fit the sunbird cam. (note it will still work on the chevette head becaust the diameter of the sunbird cam is smaller than the chevettes) the oil passage to the sunbird head will need to be blocked and on the chevette block also. there are 3 oil drains on the sunbird head located to the chevette water passages, these will need to be blocked also. (note if using the chevette head gasket everything will be blocked but i would not rely on the gasket to keep the liquids separated. Next you would have to t at the oil sensor hole and use a braided hose up to the cam where i would run smaller lines to oil straight on to the cam, another thought would be to take a 1/4'' pipe the length of the cam and drill small holes where the cam lobes and followers meet. since doing all this the hydraulic liftes wont work you will need solid, ones which is no problem. i do not have the head gasket on or the tensioner and the belt dont move much more than 90 deg. Looks as if it belongs

might be looking to trade this off or something, you will get a reman sunbird head wih new valves, hydraulic lifters, springs, keepers, retainers, good condition cam idk how old but it looks great, followers, the pieces that go between the follower and valve, cam carrier, valve cover, thermostat housing and a brand new head gasket set for the head from fel-pro. and the chevette timing gear that has been modified for the sunbird cam. all you would need is the intake, exhaust, block a few ports off (i was just going to weld the ports that were recessed into the head with aluminum on a mig welder and if anything was higher than the head you could just get it resurfaced or something.

you would need to run an oil line, block some oil returns from the head. depends if you want to use the chevette cam or sunbird also.

One thing. With the exhaust pointing to the driver side you won't be able to use a chevette cam. The sunbird cam is designed such as, from front to rear, exhaust-intake, exhaust-intake... while the chevette cam is made like following, intake-exhaust, intake-exhaust...
