Kyle Busch to race at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville May 3rd
By Terrell Davis
Fairgrounds Speedway at Nashville has made a giant leap toward bringing the racetrack back to prominence among the elite short tracks of North America with one masterstroke of promotion.
Officials at the track announced today that NASCAR racing superstar Kyle Busch will compete in a 150-lap CRA Super Late Model race on May 3rd. The Sunday afternoon race will cap a two-day event that includes the popular USA Open Wheel Modified Series and a 100-lap Sportsman race on Saturday night.
“We’ve been working on this deal for a while and just got it confirmed,” track president, Danny Denson said. “We are really excited to have Kyle, who is considered to be the best of the best, right here at the Fairgrounds Speedway. The best racing talent of NASCAR’s upper divisions competing here use to be the norm at the Fairgrounds and we plan on making it that way once again.”
The signing of Busch was one of several big events added to the aggressive promotion schedule for the 2009 season. Earlier in the week the Bobby Hamilton Memorial 200 Late Model race was given the green flag for May 16th. Bobby Hamilton, Jr. is scheduled to compete in the event that will honor his father. The Late Model Division at Nashville Fairgrounds was where the late Hamilton, Sr. won several championships on his way to becoming an upper division NASCAR star.
