Exhaust

Probably an odd thing to ask in a racing forum, but any recommendations on what to do with the exhaust? I have the dual outlet manifold running, with no cat, and a stock muffler. I have no idea how it performs yet, my mechanic just finished putting the car together today, but I won't be able to pick it up until Tuesday (costing me $500 for all the work done, plus the parts I supplied and already paid for, better than a regular shop that's for sure). Apparently he had to redo the throttle linkage a bit, and wants to show me exactly what he did to make it work properly (probably in case I decide to muck about the engine myself).
I'm guessing a turbo muffler would be the way to go, but I don't know any good brands that will fit a Chevette. I have also been wondering if it would be a good idea to get new pipes as well. Mine look odd to say the least, not only are they rusted and flaking (normal, it's old of course lol), but the pipe that goes from the manifold to the muffler looks to be a bigger diametre than the bended pipes and the exhaust pipe at the back of the car.
