CHEVETTE RULES
Stock Chevette body only, two or four door. Unibodied can be tied together with square tubing, no full tube chassis permitted. Front and rear frame rails must be in stock location.
All glasss must be removed, dash may be removed nut not mandatory.
Racing steering wheel allowed.
All chrome grills, lights, and screws must be removed.
A full four post roll cage welded securely to the frame is mandatory. At least 3 door bars on drivers side, 2 door bars on passenger side. All welds must pass inspection.
All doors must be welded, or bolted 2 5/8" bolts per each door. Aluminum or steel sheet metal allowed, but must be riveted or bolted to the body.
Hulling of body ok. Stock firewall or steel sheet metal required. Stock floorboard or can use a minimum of 1/8" steel sheet metal on the drivers side. Full floorboards or half floorboards optional.
Spoliers allowed 6" maximum.
Factury stock bumpers ok, or may use aftermarket tube type bumpers with a tube of 1 1/4"minimum and 1 1/2" maximum. Wall thickness must be between 0.095 and .120. All bumper ends must be covered, and no sharp edges. Plastic nose and tail piece ok.
All bars must be inside body panels and bumpers, no rub rails.
Boxing or tunneling of interior ok. Fuel cell must be boxed off from the drivers compartment.
Must have hood, mandatory.
Hood must open, and be secured with latch pins, No factury locks. Aluminum or steel sheet metal optional.
Engine
Must be stock appearing, Chevette gas engine only, in stock postion. No Chevette diesel engines.
Header ok, aftermarket header ok.
Carburetor must be factury stock appearing on the outside. Chevette 2 barrel holley intake or chevette 1 barrel holly intake. You may also use an aftermarket adapter plate to make a 2 barrel carburetor fit a 1 caburetor fit a 1 barrel.Holly intake or use a aftermarket sheet metal type.
Fuel: gasoline or racing fuel NO ALCOHOL
Must be stock ignition, no aftermarket ignitions allowed.
Aluminum radiator optional.
Transmission
Stock chevette automatic or standard transmission only.
Clutch, flywheel, and torque converter stock only
Suspension
Stock suspension, must be in stock location. Chevette rear end only.
No racing springs or shocks.
Screw jacks allowed in front and rear.
Shocks must be mounted in stock location only.
One shock per wheel only, in stock postion.
Stock control arms only, in stock location.
No traction or helper device permitted.
No added weight permitted
Wheels
Factury stock 13" rims, or aftermarket rims. 8" maximum width. Bead locks permitted.
Tires
Racing tires ok. Maximum width 8".
Brakes
All cars will have brakes in operating condition.
Safety
An approved full face helmet is required of all drivers.
Fire resistant driving uniforms are required.
fire resistant gloves, are strongly recommended.
Racing seats and a 5 point racing harness are required, and must securely fasten to the car frame. Belts and harness are recommended to be no more than 5 years old. Belts cannot be frayed or worn.
Head and neck restraints are highly recommended.
Window nets are highly recommended but not required.
all cars must have a fire extinguisher.
Racing fuel cell is mandatory must be in completely enclosed steel container. No aluminum allowed. You may cut out trunk floor pan for fuel cell to fit. Not to include rear frame rails.
No fuel lines inside driver or passenger compartment.
Battery must be securely mounted in trunk area, or passenger side floorboard, mounted in a plastic battery box for your safety.
Must have drive shaft loop, drive shaft must be painted white.
ABSOLUTELY Must have tow hook, front and rear.
All cars must have a car number on both doors and the roof that are at least 18" for scoring purposes.
