Hello fellers
Have access to a '81 Chevette Diesel 5-speed transmission. Was curious if that tranny will bolt up to the 1.6L gas engine. The tranny is in a salvage yard on the ground, thus I cannot get under it to check it out.
I happen to have a nice little '87 2-door 1.6L automatic, but would like to put a manual behind it.
If anybody here knows the answer, id sure appreciate any info. Thanks in advance, Wilbur

The diesel transmission bolt pattern is different. However, I need everything it takes to change a Chevette Diesel to a manual. I'm in Georgia, where is this salvage yard?

Hello
Thanks for the reply, so your saying the diesel 5-speed bolt pattern is different. Thus im assuming it would take an adaptor plate to mount bell housing to a 1.6L gas engine. I do have access to a 4-speed transmission, but I would sure like a 5-speed.
The 5 speed transmission, in a 1981 Chevette 4-door diesel is in a salvage yard A&A auto wrecking (509-933-3100) in Ellensburg, Washington state. Thank you
