I was wondering if it is any way to avoid the modification of the spring seat to use higher lift cams. Would thinner core springs solve the problem? Where is the interference?

I'm not aware of any thinner core springs that have the correct seat pressure. It's an easy modification, just have any machine shop set it up in a mill, and machine .040" off the seats. Robert Gilreath the guy who used to sponsor me, made sleeves that pressed down in the spring pocket, that was close to the valve spring O.D. Especially with shims, Lazer valve springs like to "slide" to one side. You want to keep your valve spring parallel with your valve stem.
