i have a engine that would proably beat a 2300, if the man had the money to build it! its a marine engine, like the 2.5 engines that came out in the chevyII. but its a 181ci engine, 4" bore with a 3 3/4 inch stroke, its like a 2800 or 3000. but the bad thing is they are like the fords, it cost alot to build them a automotive intake is like 289 from clifford!

That 181 is a front sump. When I tried to test fit one, it sat really far forward. The front k-member is the problem.
I had a 2.5 built. I supplied the block, the head(which I bought used, and it had already been shaved) and my engine guy did the rest.
Cost me less than $600
But my problem now is getting it to clear the firewall. My motor is an "Iron Duke", which uses a standard Chevy trans.
Is there a good way to clearness the lower control arm mounts?
